It is about time that this group has been banned, although it has been a long time in coming.
In the case of Al-Muhajiroun, aka. Al-Ghurabaa, aka. The Saviour Sect, aka. Salafi Youth for Islamic Propagation, aka. Islam4 UK’, aka. London School of Sharia, it hasn’t come too late.
And although the group has mutated somewhat since it defected from Hizb ut-Tahrir under the guidance and direction of the extremist preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, it is still cut from the same cloth.
It seems like some members of this group already believe that certain sectors of Britain belong to some Islamic state.
Recall Abu Izzadeen Omar Brooks’ disruption of a talk delivered by the then Home Secretary John Reid in which this extremist preacher launched into an angry tirade stating: "How dare you come to a Muslim area when over 1,000 Muslims have been arrested?" he said. "You are an enemy of Islam and Muslims, you are a tyrant. Shame on all of us for sitting down and listening to him."
Following the protests carried out by this group in Luton in March, a member of the group who goes by the name Sayful Islam he reportedly states something similar: "The anger has been rising. The parade was the final insult. They have killed, maimed and raped thousands of innocent people. They can’t come here and parade where there is such a Muslim community."
Both Sayful Islam and Omar Brooks hold some enclave mentality where leaders and representatives of this country are not allowed to come to a Muslim majority area.
Last week, The Muslim Weekly reported how Anjem Choudhary, the new representative head of the group following Bakri’s banning from entering the United Kingdom, and his blind-followers attempted to cause consternation in Brixton as they attempted a weekend propagation mission.
They were then confronted by the Brixton Muslim community who challenged their extremist views and made it known to them that such views were heretical to Islam.
This week, a section of the Muslim community in Luton has revealed that they too have, for years, been carrying out an ideological fight against these brainwashed Bakri followers.
Wherever this group goes, it seems to create community tension and threatens to disrupt community cohesion.
And yet certain sections of the media still give them ample air time even though most of what they have to say is bile that has been regurgitated an umpteenth number of times over the past decade.
Justice Minister and Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik said last year: "All decent people, irrespective of religion will be sickened by the antics of this group of extremists. Our soldiers do an incredibly brave job all round the world. And in Afghanistan, as well as their military role, they are also engaged in development projects which are improving the quality of life of ordinary Afghans, not to mention the two million girls who now attend school… The antics of this very small group will damage community relations and will give ammunition to the far right wing… If these people want an Islamic state as they profess my advice is to go to an Islamic country. Britain is multi-faith and we are proud of that fact as indeed we are of our soldiers."
